El Gran Abanico is the place. If you crave authentic carnitas with a great variety of cuts and styles, it has two floors for sevice because it gets crowded service is good for sure I will be back
What can I say that others haven't said. Delicious tacos and good portions. The best part? The prices. Some sit-down taco places can get pricey quickly, but it wasn't the case here. Staff was super fast and friendly. Place can feel chaotic at moments, but that's part of the place itself. There was a line to get in, but it went by pretty quick.
I have eaten in some very strange and interesting restaurants before. The best place I have ever been to is “Los Abanicos”. It is located in Cuauhtémoc, downtown Mexico City. This place is over 24 years old and its structure has changed a little over the time. What make you visit this place is to try the taste of a really incredible delicious “carnita taco” which is pork meat that is cooked only in oil and depended on the recipe, some people may add oranges, spices, bay leaves, etc. This meat is taken out and its grease is drained completely, then its sold in big soft corn tortilla stuffed with rib or any part of the pork that you want along with a traditional beer or soda. Even though “Los Abanicos” is always crowded the service is friendly and quickly. You can eat your taco inside the place sitting down in a comfy chair and watching a football match or a very intriguing Mexican show. However, I highly recommend you eat outside the place where there is a variety of sauces, beans, onions, etc., that you can put on your taco to enjoy a glorious mixed of flavours. This restaurant offers a feast for the senses. I had never been to a place with so many different smells: the aroma of freshly spices, typical fruit and vegetables and pork meat all mixed with the mouth-watering fragrance of freshly cooked Mexican food. It’s certainly an experience of taste you would never forget. If you are in Mexico City, you should definitely visit this place.
